Distribution: tropical Old World (many in Africa), only very few in South America, smaller groups in India, Madagascar, Mascarenes, Malesia, E-Asia, few in Arabia, Australia, Pacific. Inclusion of smaller genera fide Chase et al. 2021, which is not accepted by many authors, and Acrolophia, Cymbidiella, Eulophiella and Oeceoclades are still kept in use. Geodorum has definitively to be included because it is nested in core Eulophia. Species delimitations in tropical Africa are in some cases highly disputed - there is a multitude of doubtful taxa known only from old and incomplete types
